mind the gaps
VILLAGE CHURCH MON AMOUR
open Art event in the church in Schlagsdorf
mind the gaps
As a visual artist, I will offer my art project mind the gaps as a participatory interaction with interested parties. It is about the art of repair in the broadest sense. I invite people from the region to participate in this creative process. No previous knowledge of handicrafts is necessary, everyone is welcome, and people of all ages can participate.
Using handcrafting techniques, we lovingly turn our attention to holes in textiles. As we close, border, fill, or transform them in the most beautiful ways, we celebrate the tears and breaks in our lives and talk about the gaps that need to be closed. This art project is about literally closing these gaps and addressing them with community. The project is based on the idea that we all have holes in our lives, and that we can close them together. The project is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or background.
The holes for the art project mind the gaps already exist—in this case, in collected clothing, table and bed linens, and memorabilia. I ask all interested parties to bring a textile hole that is worth closing and, if necessary, can also be given away. It can also be a piece of fabric that has been cut out. If you have any questions, please feel free to write to me.
