Orikel is a mobile space for encounters and experiences situated at the intersection of uncertainty and confidence. As a temporary installation, it offers a place for inner reflection, self-care, and mental reorganization. The starting point is the question of how rituals—including those that are apparent, playful, or imaginary—can have a soothing and clarifying effect on people. This mobile apparatus creates a passageway: in at the front, out at the back—and in between, a moment of epiphany. This transition marks a “before” and an “after,” a conscious break from everyday life. This situation creates resonance, and this resonance is the beginning of a reordering. The Orikel is a ritual and functions like a sorting machine for mental processes. Thoughts, desires, and inner states are first broken down and then recombined. There is a conscious emphasis here on the imaginary. It seems real yet is intangible. A space opens up—for the incomprehensible. This ritualized exchange takes center stage: fragments of words and text are provided and come together during the interaction with the oracle. Through this back-and-forth dialogue, a new text emerges—one that may be prophetic, comforting, or unsettling—which the participants themselves can reflect on and interpret.
