Plastics have become an integral part of our lives. We synthesize them, we use them as commodities and packaging. What we also do: with every bite of food, every sip of water, every breath we take, we absorb plastics. Even in the most beautiful nature reserve, the most remote desert or in the Antarctic, we cannot escape microplastics. We should say goodbye to a plastic-free nature and press ahead with the next necessary evolutionary adaptation to polymer life. For our future generations to have an existence worth living, our organism simply has to adapt to the processing of plastics. A select choice of polymers is therefore added to these products with care and love.

The law and legal systems are the genius loci of a justice center. When is one on the so-called right path? Who is right? When must justice be done? And is justice fair? A graphic element serves as a metaphor for these topics - the right angle. This basic graphic form and the elements that make it up can be found on all acoustic walls in the stairwell. In the rigor of this pictorially predetermined system nevertheless opens up countless design possibilities. While the basic shape of the right angle on the first floor can only be rotated only allows four orientations, these become more varied with each floor. Into the gaps creep into the fixed graphic structure, paths emerge as in labyrinths and arrangements suggest movement. Interfering angles result in new angles in other colors. They slide in and on top of each other, their basic form is broken down into its horizontal and vertical elements and condensations produce new forms that open up spaces of thought. In these differentiations, the eye constantly interpolates new structures and the imagination generates a variety of associations. What slightest change in the form influences the structure and allows us to perceive the the entire optical system in a new way? By passing through the corridors and flights of stairs, the recipients view all the patterns from changing perspectives. This movement supports the effect of the constantly changing interpolation of structures and maintains the the mind game. The patterns are not defined, just as life paths are not fixed. The smallest changes can create fundamentally new variants.

SITUATION

As part of the ring road around Wismar's old town, Dr.-Leber-Straße is primarily a thoroughfare. This location and the lack of quality of stay characterize the area. Passers-by pass by at different speeds. The dynamics of the place can thus be characterized by speed and fleetingness.

IDEA
Taking up the genius loci, seagulls flying past are the defining motif.
When viewed in detail, individual seagulls can be recognized. From a distance or while passing the fence quickly, the birds can only be perceived as a flock, as a band. The design thus plays with two associations. On the one hand, it picks up on the seagull as an animal that characterizes the port city and, on the other, it recalls the flight of birds that takes place twice a year.
REALIZATION

When viewed from the front, the pictorial elements are barely perceptible due to the small front surface of the flat steel profiles. The application of paint looks like spots, but suggests that something will be visible there. When in motion, the viewer can be surprised by the recognizable image.
Depending on the viewing angle and distance, the image sections change and allow the depiction to play out like a movie. This play with perception and the "fleeting" characteristics of "moving" images are appropriate to the location.

Corona has provided new experiences.
Corona has provided new experiences. We are all confronted with disguise, social distancing, demarcation, isolation, our contacts have to work digitally. A number of new challenges, the aftermath of which we cannot foresee in this first experience.

SEE ME deals artistically with distance.
What do people find their footing in? Themselves? But then the feeling of distancing increases and you sometimes lose your orientation.

In the sight of the hair splendor arises confusion over front and back, facing and facing away. This confusion of the recipients is the transmission of their own inner confusion.

Detour use - Design processes are processes of appropriation. They offer the opportunity to become aware of one's own power to act and shape the world in a self-willed way. Processes in which self-determination over one's own life is developed.
